HarvestShare has been invited to partner with Montgomery Parks and the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources to participate in a unique opportunity through their Project for Action, Learning and Sustainability (PALS) course. This one-credit seminar exposes students to current trends, concerns and research in sustainable agriculture and currently is attended by students majoring in Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Science, Agricultural Business Management, or Food Science.

The class’s collaborative goal will be to develop and implement a sustainable plan for culturally appropriate emergency food production at Montgomery Parks’ Pope Farm Nursery in Gaithersburg. HarvestShare will advise students on local food insecurity issues and considerations for harvesting and distributing their produce to local food assistance providers. We are so excited to partner with Parks and UMD to collaborate on this new program.
