Food insecurity in Montgomery County, MD?

Yes!! The end of the pandemic did not result in an expected significant reduction of food insecurity in our area. The 2023 Capital Area Food Bank Hunger Report states that 27% of Montgomery County residents remain food insecure with 42% of those households having children.

Inflation with an 11-15% increase in food costs, higher transportation and housing costs, and the rollback of pandemic-related government food programs have left many families still vulnerable. An astounding 76% of those deemed food insecure are employed.
